Detail story of Ram, laxman, Hanuman and Ravan as per Jain scriptures

    a month ago 21

    Answer

In the Jain Rāmāyaṇa tradition, the story of Rāma is told in texts such as the Paüma-cariyam and the later Jain Purāṇas. Jain versions present Rāma as the eighth Baladeva, Lakṣmaṇa as the eighth Vāsudeva, and Rāvaṇa as the eighth Prati-vāsudeva. In many Jain tellings, Rāma is called Padma to distinguish him from Balarāma. ( jainpedia.org)

    Explanation

    1) Rāma / Padma

Rāma is shown as a righteous prince of Ayodhyā, the son of Daśaratha. He marries Sītā, and when she is taken away by Rāvaṇa, Rāma goes in search of her with Lakṣmaṇa. In the Jain telling, Rāma is noble and dhārmic, but he is not the one who kills Rāvaṇa. ( jainpedia.org)

    2) Lakṣmaṇa

Lakṣmaṇa is the more warrior-like hero in the Jain version. He accompanies Rāma, fights strongly in the war, and finally kills Rāvaṇa because Jain cosmology says a Prati-vāsudeva must be slain by a Vāsudeva. This is one of the clearest differences from the Vālmīki Rāmāyaṇa. ( jainpedia.org)

    3) Hanumān

In Jain scriptures, Hanumān is not treated as a divine monkey-god in the later popular sense. Jain authors describe Hanumān and the other vānaras as a human race with a monkey emblem, and they place them within the larger Vidyādhara lineage. Hanumān is sent to Laṅkā to gather news of Sītā and to support the alliance against Rāvaṇa. ( jainpedia.org)

    4) Rāvaṇa

Rāvaṇa is the powerful king of Laṅkā and the great enemy of Rāma and Lakṣmaṇa. Jain texts do not present him simply as a demon in the usual sense; they interpret the Rākṣasas as a human lineage too. Rāvaṇa abducts Sītā, wages war, and is ultimately slain by Lakṣmaṇa. ( jainpedia.org)

    Story flow in Jain tradition

The usual Jain sequence is: Daśaratha’s sons are born, Rāma marries Sītā, Rāvaṇa abducts her, Rāma and Lakṣmaṇa search for her, they meet Sugrīva, Hanumān is sent to Laṅkā, Vibhīṣaṇa joins Rāma’s side, war breaks out, and Lakṣmaṇa kills Rāvaṇa. After the battle, Rāma, Sītā, and Lakṣmaṇa return home. ( jainpedia.org)

    Spiritual Understanding

The Jain Ram story is told to highlight karma, restraint, and moral causation. Even the most powerful beings are still bound by conduct and the results of their actions. The Jain version also emphasizes that victory is not glorified as divine conquest, but understood through ethical order and karmic law. ( jainpedia.org)

    Takeaway

In Jain scriptures, Rāma is the noble Padma, Lakṣmaṇa is the actual slayer of Rāvaṇa, Hanumān is a heroic ally, and Rāvaṇa is a mighty but karmically bound ruler whose defeat shows the Jain teaching that power must finally submit to dharma and karma. ( jainpedia.org)
