Why Neminath bhagwan did not stop the battle of Mahabharata?

    3 weeks ago 4

    Answer

In Jain tradition, Neminath Bhagwan did not stop the battle of Mahabharata because a Tirthankara does not use force to control worldly events. He only shows the path of dharma. The war was the result of the karma, choices, and passions of the people involved, so it could not be stopped by spiritual authority alone.

    Explanation

Neminath Bhagwan was completely detached from worldly attachment and violence. His role was to teach:
    • non-violence
    • self-control
    • detachment
    • right conduct

But in Jain Dharma, even a Tirthankara does not interfere by force in the karmic actions of living beings. Every soul must experience the results of its own karma.

So, if people are driven by anger, pride, greed, and revenge, they themselves create the causes of conflict. A Tirthankara can guide and warn, but cannot compel them to become peaceful.

    Spiritual Understanding

This teaches an important Jain principle:
    • Karma is powerful.
    • Free will matters.
    • A saint can illuminate the path, but each soul must choose it.

The Mahabharata war, from a Jain view, was not stopped because the participants were not ready to renounce violence and because the karmic chain had already become very strong.

    Takeaway

Neminath Bhagwan did not stop the battle because Jain Dharma teaches non-interference, non-violence, and respect for karma. He could guide souls toward peace, but he would not force them.
