Evening meal in stanak called
In Jainism, particularly among the Sthanakvasi sect, the evening meal is referred to as "sandhya bhojan" or "sandhya aahar". However, it is important to note that many devout Jains, especially those following the Sthanakvasi tradition, strictly avoid eating after sunset as part of the vow of "ratri bhojan tyag" (giving up night eating). This practice is rooted in the principle of ahimsa (non-violence), as eating after sunset increases the likelihood of inadvertently harming small living beings that become more active at night and may be present in food.
Therefore, in a Sthanak (a Jain place of gathering and worship without idols), meals are typically taken before sunset. If a meal is served in the evening (before sunset), it may be called "sandhya bhojan", but after sunset, the practice is generally discouraged among devout followers.
