I took a oath that I won't eat junk & no insta till get rank in study for that but now I found its not possible for me to follow that oath what should I do ?

    a week ago 5

    Answer

If you truly feel that the oath is not possible to follow now, do not keep failing it again and again. In Jain understanding, a vow should be taken with honesty and capacity. It is better to take a smaller, practical vow than a very strict one you cannot maintain.

    Explanation

    What you can do now:
    • Accept the situation honestly
Do not keep pretending you can follow something that is currently beyond your strength.
    • Do alochana and pratikraman
Mentally confess that you were sincere, but the vow became difficult to maintain. Ask for forgiveness with humility.
    • Reduce the vow to a manageable level
For example: - instead of “no junk at all,” say “junk only once a week,” or - “no junk on study days,” or - “no Instagram during study hours.”
    • Make the vow specific
Vows work best when they are clear and realistic.
    • Keep the spirit of restraint
The purpose is self-control, not self-punishment.

    Spiritual Understanding

In Jain Dharma, vows are meant to help the soul grow in discipline, awareness, and restraint. A vow taken without proper readiness can become a source of guilt instead of purification. So the right approach is:
    • be sincere,
    • be humble,
    • and choose a vow you can truly uphold.

This is also a form of samyak aacharan — right conduct with honesty.

    Takeaway

Do not force an impossible vow. Seek forgiveness, adjust the vow to your real capacity, and continue with steady self-discipline. In Jain life, sincerity is more important than empty strictness.
