    Shakrastav Abhishek vidhi

    a week ago 3

    Answer

Shakrastav Abhishek Vidhi is a Jain devotional ritual in which Bhagwan’s idol is bathed with reverence while reciting the Shakrastav Stotra. It is performed with deep bhakti, humility, and purity of mind.

    General Vidhi

    • 1. Preparation
      • Clean the temple area, kalash, thali, and all puja items.
      • Wear clean clothes and maintain inner purity.
      • Keep pure water, kalash, chandan, flowers, rice, and other required puja items ready.
    • 2. Bhav and Namaskar
      • Begin with devotion by doing Namaskar Mantra.
      • Bow to Arihant Bhagwan, Siddha Bhagwan, Acharya, Upadhyay, and Sadhu-Sadhviji Bhagwant.
    • 3. Sankalp / Bhavna
      • Take a pure inner resolve that the Abhishek is being done for spiritual purification, not for worldly gain.
      • Remember the virtues of Arihant Bhagwan: infinite knowledge, perception, bliss, and energy.
    • 4. Jal Abhishek
      • Offer pure water on Bhagwan’s idol with calmness and devotion.
      • While doing Abhishek, recite Shakrastav if you know the exact text.
      • If you do not know it fully, recite Namokar Mantra or listen respectfully to the correct recitation.
    • 5. Recitation of Shakrastav
      • Shakrastav praises the supreme qualities of Tirthankar Bhagwan.
      • It is traditionally associated with great reverence, as if Indra himself is worshipping Bhagwan.
      • The recitation should be done correctly and respectfully.
    • 6. Completion of Abhishek
      • After Abhishek, gently dry the idol with a clean cloth as per temple tradition.
      • Apply chandan and perform further puja according to your family or temple tradition.
    • 7. Final Prayer
      • Pray for right faith, right knowledge, and right conduct.
      • Ask for forgiveness for any mistake in pronunciation, action, or bhav during the ritual.

    Spiritual Understanding

In Jain Dharma, Abhishek is not done to “clean” Bhagwan, because Arihant and Siddha are completely pure. The ritual is for our own inner purification. By bathing Bhagwan’s idol, we reflect on washing away our karmic impurities, ego, anger, greed, attachment, and pride.

    Takeaway

Shakrastav Abhishek should be performed with shuddh bhav, correct recitation, and humility. The main purpose is to awaken devotion toward Tirthankar Bhagwan and strengthen the path of Samyak Darshan, Samyak Gyan, and Samyak Charitra.
