Achalgachh navsmrana sutra
The Nav Smarana Sutra (Nine Remembrances Sutra) is a Jain prayer recited in the Achalgachh tradition of the Shwetambar sect. This sutra is a form of salutation and remembrance to nine revered entities in Jainism, promoting spiritual growth and humility.
Here is the traditional Nav Smarana Sutra as recited in the Achalgachh tradition:
णमो अरिहंताणं। णमो सिद्धाणं। णमो आयरियाणं। णमो उवज्जायाणं। णमो लोए सव्वसाहूणं। णमो सव्वे पंच परमेष्ठी। णमो सव्वे सिद्ध। णमो सव्वे साधु। णमो सव्वे धर्म।
Meaning:
- Namo Arihantāṇam – I bow to the Arihants (enlightened souls who have conquered inner passions).
- Namo Siddhāṇam – I bow to the Siddhas (liberated souls).
- Namo Āyariyāṇam – I bow to the Acharyas (spiritual leaders).
- Namo Uvajjhāyāṇam – I bow to the Upadhyayas (preceptors).
- Namo Loe Savva-Sāhūṇam – I bow to all Sadhus (saints) in the universe.
- Namo Savve Panch Parmeshti – I bow to all five supreme beings.
- Namo Savve Siddha – I bow to all Siddhas.
- Namo Savve Sadhu – I bow to all Sadhus.
- Namo Savve Dharma – I bow to all Dharma (teachings and principles).
This sutra, like the more commonly known Navkar Mantra, is a core prayer in Jainism and is revered for its spiritual significance. It is often recited during daily prayers and rituals in the Achalgachh tradition.
