I have taken up a job offer which I am not really interested on , but had to take it for survival how do i deal it with in jain way and nit let it affect me

    Answer

In the Jain way, deal with this job through acceptance, detachment, honesty, and inner discipline.

You may not love the job, but if it is needed for survival and does not involve clear himsa, dishonesty, exploitation, or unethical activity, you can do it with a calm mind while remembering: “This job is a means for livelihood, not my true identity.”

    Explanation

Jain Dharma teaches that suffering often increases not only because of the situation, but because of our inner reactions: attachment, dislike, anger, comparison, and resistance.

To handle this job in a Jain way:

    • Practice samata: Try to remain balanced in pleasant and unpleasant situations.
    • Do your duty sincerely: Even if the job is not your passion, avoid carelessness, resentment, or dishonesty.
    • Reduce inner attachment: Do not let the job define your worth or disturb your soul’s peace.
    • Avoid negative karma: Do not develop anger, jealousy, deception, or hatred because of the situation.
    • Keep searching calmly: If this job is only temporary, continue looking for better work without anxiety or bitterness.

    Spiritual Understanding

From the Jain perspective, your outer role is temporary. Today one may be an employee, tomorrow something else. But the soul’s real journey is toward purity, awareness, and freedom from passions.

So while working, observe your inner state:

    • Am I becoming angry?
    • Am I feeling trapped?
    • Am I comparing myself with others?
    • Am I losing my peace?

If yes, gently bring yourself back to awareness. Remind yourself:

“I am doing this as a practical duty, but I will not allow attachment or aversion to control me.”

    You can also practice:

    • Navkar Mantra daily with calm focus.
    • Pratikraman to reflect on your thoughts, speech, and actions.
    • Kayotsarg for detachment from stress and bodily tension.
    • Anupreksha such as impermanence: this situation is temporary.

    Practical Jain Way

    Try this simple daily approach:

    • Before work: Recite Navkar Mantra and set the intention: “May I work honestly and peacefully.”
    • During work: Do the task without hatred. Keep your speech gentle and truthful.
    • After work: Mentally separate yourself from the job. Do not carry the burden into your inner life.
    • At night: Reflect: “Where did I lose peace today? Where can I improve tomorrow?”

    Takeaway

In Jain Dharma, peace does not come only when outer conditions are perfect. Peace comes when the soul learns to remain steady even in difficult conditions.

Do the job as a duty, not as bondage. Work honestly, remain detached, avoid harmful emotions, and patiently move toward better opportunities without losing your inner balance.
