    Answer

I understand your pain as a parent. In Jain Dharma, faith should be guided by samajh, shraddha, and inner conviction—understanding, respect, and personal belief—not fear, pressure, or arguments.

If your son is speaking about conversion because classmates joke about Jain rules, then the main issue may not be Jain Dharma itself, but peer pressure, embarrassment, and lack of confidence in explaining his faith.

    Explanation

    You can handle this gently:

    • Do not scold or force him. If you force religion, he may move further away emotionally.
    • Listen calmly. Ask him: “Are you unhappy with Jain Dharma, or are you hurt because friends make fun of you?”
    • Give him simple answers he can say to classmates. For example:
      • “I follow non-violence because it matters to me.”
      • “Every family has its values; these are ours.”
      • “I respect your food and lifestyle, please respect mine.”
    • Explain Jain rules with meaning, not fear. Jain practices like vegetarianism, avoiding harm, truthfulness, and self-control are based on Ahimsa and compassion.
    • Let him meet confident Jain youth. Sometimes children feel alone. Satsang, Jain youth groups, temple activities, or discussions with good Jain mentors can help.
    • For your doctor son also, speak respectfully. He is educated and may need logical, ethical explanations of Jain Dharma, not only tradition-based instruction.

    Spiritual Understanding

Jain Dharma teaches Samyag Darshan—right faith. Right faith cannot be created by force. It grows through understanding the soul, karma, ahimsa, and the purpose of discipline.

Your role as a parent is to plant seeds of Jain values with patience:

    • Ahimsa in thoughts, words, and actions
    • Respect for all living beings
    • Self-control
    • Forgiveness
    • Simple living
    • Inner purity

Even if your son is confused today, respectful guidance can bring him back with stronger understanding.

    Takeaway

Do not react with fear. Speak with love, understand his pain, give him confidence, and connect him with meaningful Jain knowledge and good Jain company. Conversion should never be a response to jokes or social pressure; faith should come from clear understanding and inner conviction.
