    Answer

In Jain Dharma, kissing with romantic/sexual attachment is generally connected with kāma-rāga and mohanīya karma, because it involves attraction, attachment, and passion.

It would usually not be classified as kuśīla in the strict sense unless it crosses the boundary of improper sexual conduct, betrayal, lack of restraint, or violation of vows.

But it is also not spiritually neutral. It can strengthen attachment and passion.

    Explanation

    In Jainism:

    • Mohanīya karma is the main karma involved in attachment, attraction, desire, possessiveness, and emotional delusion.
    • Jñānāvaraṇīya karma obstructs knowledge.
    • Actions driven by strong passion can indirectly support other karma bondage too, depending on intensity of intention, attachment, secrecy, guilt, pride, or loss of self-control.

So it is not correct to say: “It will only bind mohanīya karma and definitely not affect jñānāvaraṇīya karma in any case.”

In Jain karma theory, karma bondage depends on:

    • intention,
    • passion level,
    • attachment,
    • awareness,
    • restraint or lack of restraint.

A loving kiss may seem small, but if it increases attachment, craving, imagination, possessiveness, or loss of discipline, then spiritually it becomes a cause of bondage.

    Spiritual Understanding

Jain Dharma does not ask us to hate love or emotions. But it teaches us to understand the difference between:

    • pure care — kindness, respect, responsibility, dignity,
    • attachment — craving, dependence, possessiveness, sensual pull.

The more an action is rooted in attachment and sensual desire, the more it strengthens mohanīya karma. Mohanīya karma is especially serious because it clouds right perception and self-control.

    Takeaway

If you and Ruchil truly care for each other, keep the relationship respectful, restrained, honest, and within dharmic boundaries.

A kiss may mainly relate to mohanīya karma, but Jain Dharma would not say it has “no effect in any case” on other karmas. The safest spiritual path is awareness, restraint, and not letting attachment overpower your inner purity.
