    Jain mantra for pregnancy

    one year ago 547

In Jainism, there is no specific "pregnancy mantra" as found in some other traditions. However, Jains often recite universal and powerful mantras for spiritual well-being, peace, and auspiciousness, which can be recited during pregnancy for the benefit of both mother and child.

    Most commonly recited Jain mantra:

Namokar Mantra (Navkar Mantra): This is the most sacred and fundamental mantra in Jainism, suitable for all occasions, including pregnancy.

    Namokar Mantra: ```

Transliteration: ``` Namo Arihantāṇam Namo Siddhāṇam Namo Ayariyāṇam Namo Uvajjhāyāṇam Namo Loe Savva Sāhūṇam

Eso Panch Namokkāro Savva Pāvappaṇāsano Mangalāṇam cha Savvesim Padhamam Havai Mangalam ```

Meaning: I bow to Arihants (liberated souls with bodies), Siddhas (liberated souls without bodies), Acharyas (spiritual leaders), Upadhyayas (spiritual teachers), and all Sadhus (monks) in the universe. This five-fold obeisance destroys all sins and is the most auspicious of all auspicious things.

    How to use during pregnancy:

    • Recite the Namokar Mantra daily, ideally in the morning.
    • Maintain a peaceful environment and cultivate positive thoughts.
    • Engage in spiritual study (Swadhyaya) and listen to Jain discourses, as it is believed that the unborn child receives positive impressions (Sanskaras) during this time.

Note: Jain tradition also encourages reading and listening to Jain scriptures and stories (e.g., lives of Tirthankaras, especially Lord Mahavira's mother Trishala's dreams) during pregnancy to foster virtues in the child.
