Tommorow paryushan is starting. I want to take pachkan for certain things during paryushan only. Please give pachkan mantra for this

    Answer

For taking a specific pachchakkhāṇ / pachkan during Paryushan, the common form is:

    “Iriyāvahiyaṃ paḍikkamāmi, tassa micchāmi dukkaḍaṃ.”

Then, for the actual vow, you may say in simple language:

“Paryushan parva māṭe, huṃ ā vastu / ā ācharaṇ no tyāg karuṃ chhuṃ.”

    Meaning:

“For the period of Paryushan, I renounce this item / habit.”

Then specify clearly what you are giving up, for example:

    • “Huṃ Paryushan māṭe kandmool no tyāg karuṃ chhuṃ.”
    • “Huṃ Paryushan māṭe mithai no tyāg karuṃ chhuṃ.”
    • “Huṃ Paryushan māṭe raatri-bhojan no tyāg karuṃ chhuṃ.”
    • “Huṃ Paryushan māṭe mobile / social media no tyāg karuṃ chhuṃ.”

    Important Note

The exact formal pachchakkhāṇ mantra can differ by Jain tradition, sect, gaccha, and local practice. For a proper religious vow, it is best to take pachkan from a Sadhu-Sadhviji, Guru Bhagwant, or knowledgeable shravak/shravika according to your tradition.

    Simple Way to Take Pachkan

    You can say with devotion:

“Arihant Bhagwan, Siddha Bhagwan, Sadhu-Sadhviji ane Guru Bhagwant ni sakshiye, huṃ Paryushan parva sudhi ā vastu no tyāg karuṃ chhuṃ. Mane ā niyam pāḷvā mā shakti āpo.”

    Meaning:

“In the presence of Arihant Bhagwan, Siddha Bhagwan, Sadhu-Sadhviji and Guru Bhagwant, I renounce this item until the end of Paryushan. May I have the strength to observe this vow properly.”

    Spiritual Understanding

In Jain Dharma, pachkan is not only about giving up food or habits. It is a conscious vow of self-restraint. During Paryushan, such vows help reduce attachment, increase awareness, and purify the soul through discipline, repentance, and inner reflection.

    Takeaway

Take only those pachkans that you can sincerely follow. A small vow followed properly is spiritually better than a big vow broken carelessly.
