I am doing 3rd upvas n I want to do 8 so how to maintain nausea

    4 hrs ago 4

    Answer

Doing your 3rd upvas and aiming for 8 is a serious tapasya. If you are feeling nausea, please be careful and do not force the body beyond its capacity.

In Jain Dharma, tapasya should be done with samata and awareness, not with harm to the body.

    What You Can Do

    • Rest more: Avoid walking too much, talking too much, or doing household work.
    • Stay calm mentally: Anxiety and overthinking can increase nausea.
    • Avoid strong smells: Food smells, perfumes, or incense may worsen nausea.
    • Sit or lie down slowly: Sudden movements can increase dizziness and nausea.
    • Do light spiritual activity: Navkar Mantra, samayik, pratikraman, or listening to stavans can help keep the mind steady.
    • Do not compare: Everyone’s body capacity is different. Tapasya is not competition.

    Important Health Guidance

If nausea is strong, or if you have vomiting, faintness, chest pain, severe weakness, confusion, very low urine, or dizziness, please speak to a doctor and an experienced elder/guru immediately.

If your body is clearly not supporting the fast, it is better to take proper guidance rather than continue with ego or pressure.

    Spiritual Understanding

In Jain Dharma, the true value of upvas is not only the number of fasts. The deeper purpose is:

    • Reducing attachment to food
    • Controlling desires
    • Practicing inner peace
    • Increasing awareness of the soul
    • Doing tapasya with humility and right intention

    Takeaway

Continue only if your body and mind remain reasonably stable. Do tapasya with devotion, not force. If nausea becomes severe, take guidance and protect your health while maintaining spiritual bhaav.
