How to get connected to spirituality in Jay, the more like I am someone who does not get connected to me, Pratikam our fasting

    Answer

If you do not feel connected to spirituality through Pratikraman or fasting, that is okay. In Jain Dharma, spirituality is not limited only to rituals or tapasya. The real beginning of spirituality is:

    • Awareness of the soul
    • Reducing anger, ego, deceit, and greed
    • Practicing ahimsa in daily life
    • Developing inner peace and compassion

You can start in a simple and natural way.

    Explanation

In Jain Dharma, the soul becomes spiritually connected when it turns inward and becomes aware of its own nature. If long rituals or fasting feel difficult, begin with small practices:

    • Do 5 minutes of silence daily — sit quietly and observe your thoughts.
    • Say Navkar Mantra with attention — even one time, but with respect and awareness.
    • Practice forgiveness — before sleeping, think: “If I hurt anyone knowingly or unknowingly, I ask forgiveness.”
    • Reduce harm — be careful in speech, food, actions, and thoughts.
    • Do one small self-control practice — such as avoiding anger, gossip, harsh words, or unnecessary desires for one day.
    • Listen to Jain pravachan or read a small Jain teaching — even 5–10 minutes is enough to begin.

You do not need to force yourself into big practices immediately. Spirituality grows slowly through sincerity.

    Spiritual Understanding

Pratikraman and fasting are very meaningful in Jain Dharma, but their purpose is inner purification. If someone performs them without understanding, they may feel disconnected. But if someone practices even a small act with awareness, humility, and non-violence, that also becomes spiritual progress.

    For example:

    • Controlling anger is a form of inner tapasya.
    • Speaking gently is practice of ahimsa.
    • Accepting your mistake is a form of pratikraman.
    • Forgiving someone reduces karma.

So instead of thinking, “I am not spiritual because I cannot fast or do Pratikraman,” think:

“I will begin with small steps toward purity of soul.”

    Takeaway

    Start with simple Jain spirituality:

    • One Navkar Mantra daily with focus
    • Five minutes of silence
    • One act of forgiveness
    • One effort to reduce anger or harm

Spirituality in Jain Dharma is not about pressure. It is about slowly awakening the soul through right faith, right knowledge, and right conduct.
