In case of periods on which how to delay to attend last day of samastari

    3 hrs ago 4

    Answer

In Jain Dharma, if a woman gets periods during Paryushan/Samvatsari, she should not feel guilty. Menstruation is a natural bodily process, not a sin.

If your period may come on the last day of Samvatsari and you are thinking of delaying it, please do not take any medicine or hormonal tablet without consulting a qualified doctor.

    Explanation

    For attending Samvatsari Pratikraman:

    • If your family/tradition allows, you may attend while maintaining cleanliness and personal comfort.
    • Some Jain families follow the custom of not entering the derasar or not doing certain rituals during periods.
    • If you cannot attend in person, you may do bhav-puja, pratikraman, prarthana, or Michchhami Dukkadam from home with sincere feelings.

Delaying periods medically is a health-related decision. Jain Dharma does not require harming or disturbing the body just to attend a ritual physically. The inner bhav is very important.

    Spiritual Understanding

    Samvatsari is mainly about:

    • forgiveness,
    • repentance,
    • self-purification,
    • reducing anger, ego, deceit, and greed,
    • saying “Michchhami Dukkadam” with true feeling.

Even if you cannot attend the last day physically, sincere repentance and forgiveness from home still have spiritual value.

    Takeaway

Do not risk your health to delay periods without medical advice. If you cannot attend Samvatsari in person, observe it sincerely from home with pure bhav, pratikraman, and Michchhami Dukkadam.
