Can we pray to others god's like Hindu devi devta in paryushan

    5 hrs ago 3

    Answer

In Jain Dharma, during Paryushan, the main focus should be on:

    • Arihant Bhagwan
    • Siddha Bhagwan
    • Acharya
    • Upadhyay
    • Sadhu-Sadhvi Bhagwant
    • Self-purification through Pratikraman, Samayik, Tap, Swadhyay, forgiveness, and inner reflection

Jain tradition does not teach worship of Hindu devi-devtas as the spiritual ideal, especially during Paryushan. Paryushan is a time to strengthen faith in the Jain path of liberation.

    Explanation

In Jain Dharma, devas and devis may exist as heavenly beings, but they are still within samsar—the cycle of birth and death. They are not liberated souls.

The highest objects of reverence in Jain Dharma are:

    • Arihants — perfected living beings who have destroyed inner enemies
    • Siddhas — liberated souls who are free forever

So, if someone respectfully believes in Hindu devi-devtas due to family culture, Jain Dharma would still guide them to understand that liberation comes through:

    • Right Faith
    • Right Knowledge
    • Right Conduct
    • Ahimsa
    • Self-control
    • Karma purification

Not through asking worldly gods for material favors.

    Spiritual Understanding

Paryushan is not mainly about asking for blessings from outside powers. It is about looking within and reducing:

    • Anger
    • Ego
    • Deceit
    • Greed
    • Attachment
    • Hatred

That is why Jain prayers like Navkar Mantra, Logassa, Uvasaggaharam Stotra, Pratikraman Sutras, and forgiveness prayers are especially meaningful during Paryushan.

    Takeaway

You should respectfully keep your focus on Jain Bhagwan, Jain Dharma, Pratikraman, Tap, and inner purification during Paryushan.

Respecting other traditions is good, but for a Jain spiritual practice—especially in Paryushan—the prayer should be centered on the Jain path of moksha.
