When the future chovisi will start ?
Answer
In Jain tradition, the future Chovisi will begin in the next descending half-cycle of time, after the present time cycle moves through its remaining stages and then rises again before another descent begins.
It does not start in the near future according to Jain cosmology.
Explanation
Jain time is divided into endless cycles of:
- Utsarpini – ascending time cycle
- Avasarpini – descending time cycle
We are currently in the Avasarpini kaal of the present time cycle. In this Avasarpini, the 24 Tirthankars of the present Chovisi have already appeared, ending with:
- Bhagwan Mahavir Swami – the 24th Tirthankar of the present Chovisi
The future Chovisi refers to the 24 Tirthankars who will appear in a future time cycle. Traditionally, they will appear in the next Avasarpini after the present cycle completes and the next Utsarpini passes.
Spiritual Understanding
The exact timing is described in Jain cosmology as extremely vast, beyond ordinary human calculation. The important teaching is that Tirthankars appear when the conditions of the world are suitable for re-establishing the fourfold Jain Sangh and showing the path to liberation.
Takeaway
The future Chovisi will begin in a far future time cycle, not during the present era. In our present Chovisi, Bhagwan Mahavir Swami is the last Tirthankar, and his teachings are our guide for spiritual progress today.
