    Answer

Please do not think “there is no one like me.” You are not beyond forgiveness or spiritual improvement. In Jain Dharma, wrong actions create karmic bondage, but sincere repentance, stopping the habit, and taking corrective steps can purify the soul gradually.

During Paryushan, the seriousness feels greater because it is a sacred time for self-purification, restraint, and repentance. But the right response is not self-hatred. The right response is pratikraman, alochana, pratyakhyan, and renewed effort.

    Explanation

In Jain Dharma, watching pornography and masturbation are connected with kaam-vikar — passions and sensual attachment. These disturb:

    • Brahmacharya — purity and control over sexual desires
    • Sanyam — self-restraint
    • Man-shuddhi — purity of thoughts
    • Atma-jagruti — awareness of the soul

Doing this during Paryushan may make you feel more guilty because Paryushan is a time to reduce passions, not strengthen them. But Jain Dharma teaches that the soul can rise again through awareness and effort.

    What you should do now:

    • Do pratikraman sincerely — repent for the mistake.
    • Do alochana — honestly accept the fault before Bhagwan, Guru, or within your inner conscience.
    • Take pratyakhyan — make a realistic vow to avoid it, even if for a short period first.
    • Say Michhami Dukkadam with sincerity for the harm caused through thoughts and actions.
    • Do not repeat it casually — guilt alone is not enough; effort to change is needed.

    Spiritual Understanding

In Jainism, a mistake becomes spiritually dangerous when we justify it, enjoy it without remorse, or refuse to change. But if you feel regret and want to improve, that itself is a good sign of inner awakening.

Do not fall into two extremes:

    • Do not think: “It is okay, everyone does it.”
    • Do not think: “I am the worst person and cannot improve.”

The Jain path is about becoming aware of our weaknesses and slowly conquering them. Even strong passions can be reduced by right effort.

    Practical Steps

    Try this:

    • Keep your phone away at night.
    • Avoid being alone with triggering content.
    • Stop following accounts or websites that lead to lustful thoughts.
    • When desire comes, immediately change place, drink water, do Navkar Mantra, or go near family members.
    • Take a small vow: “For the next 1 day / 3 days / 8 days, I will not watch such content.” Then increase slowly.
    • If it feels addictive and uncontrollable, speak to a trusted elder, counselor, or doctor. Taking help is not shameful.

    Takeaway

You made a mistake, but you are not finished. In Jain Dharma, sincere repentance and self-restraint can begin at any moment.

Do pratikraman, ask forgiveness with true feeling, take a practical vow, and start again. The soul’s nature is pure; passions are temporary coverings. Continue walking toward purity with courage.
