For a Digambar Jain, daily pujan vidhan using astha dravya thali, requires what chapters or pujas to be read from Jinvani and in what order?

    2 hrs ago 1

    Answer

For a Digambar Jain doing daily Ashta Dravya Puja, the commonly followed order is:

    1. Mangalacharan / Namokar Mantra
    2. Dev-Shastra-Guru Vandana
    3. Jinendra Bhagwan Puja or Chaubisi Puja
    4. Ashta Dravya Arpan in order:
      • Jal
      • Chandan
      • Akshat
      • Pushpa
      • Naivedya
      • Deep
      • Dhoop
      • Phal
    5. Arghya / Jayamala
    6. Shanti Path
    7. Visarjan / Kshama Yachna

    Explanation

In many Digambar Jain homes and temples, daily pujan from Jinvani generally begins with reverence to the three jewels of worship:

    • Dev – Arihant Bhagwan
    • Shastra – true Jain scriptures
    • Guru – true Jain monks

After this, the devotee performs puja of Jinendra Bhagwan using the eight dravyas. Each dravya has a spiritual meaning:

    • Jal – purity
    • Chandan – peace and coolness of passions
    • Akshat – undestroyed, pure soul-nature
    • Pushpa – fragrance of right conduct
    • Naivedya – renunciation of taste and attachment
    • Deep – light of right knowledge
    • Dhoop – spreading of virtues
    • Phal – fruit of moksha

The puja is usually completed with Arghya, Jayamala, Shanti Path, and a humble request for forgiveness for any mistake in pronunciation, method, or devotion.

    Important Note

There is not one single universal page order for all editions of Jinvani. Different Digambar Jain families, temples, regions, and published Jinvani books may arrange pujas differently.

So the most accurate daily order is:

    • Follow the sequence taught in your temple or family tradition.
    • Use the order printed in your specific Jinvani edition.
    • If available, ask a learned Digambar Jain panditji, vidwan, or temple elder for the local vidhi.

    Takeaway

A simple daily Digambar Jain pujan with Ashta Dravya usually follows this flow:

    Namokar Mantra → Dev-Shastra-Guru Vandana → Jinendra/Chaubisi Puja → Ashta Dravya Arpan → Arghya/Jayamala → Shanti Path → Kshama Yachna.

The outer dravya puja is meant to awaken inner purity, detachment, right faith, and devotion toward the liberated state of the soul.
