6kayna naam
Jainism mentions six types of "Kayas" (bodies or classes of living beings) known as "Shad Jati Kay" (षटकाय जीव), which are:
- Prithvikaya (Earth-bodied beings)
- Apkaya (Water-bodied beings)
- Teukaya (Fire-bodied beings)
- Vayukaya (Air-bodied beings)
- Vanaspatikaya (Plant-bodied beings)
- Trasa (Mobile beings – beings with two or more senses, such as worms, insects, animals, and humans)
These six categories represent the fundamental types of embodied souls (jivas) according to Jain philosophy, highlighting the vast diversity of life and the importance of non-violence (ahimsa) towards all living beings.
