What are the 14 lakh manushya give examples

    2 hrs ago 2

    Answer

In Jain Dharma, “14 lakh Manushya” means the 14 lakh varieties or categories of human beings within the classification of living beings.

Here, Manushya does not mean only modern humans like people living today. In Jain cosmology, it includes different types of human beings found in various regions of the Madhyalok where human birth is possible.

    Explanation

Jain scriptures classify living beings in many ways. One traditional classification speaks of 84 lakh jīva-yoni or forms of embodied life. Among them, 14 lakh are Manushya-yoni.

    Examples of Manushya include:

    • Humans living in Bharat Kshetra
    • Humans living in Airavat Kshetra
    • Humans living in Mahavideh Kshetra
    • Human beings born in different lands of Jain cosmology where human life exists
    • Ordinary humans who live with worldly attachments
    • Humans who practice dharma, restraint, charity, tapasya, and spiritual discipline
    • Great human beings such as Tirthankars, Chakravartis, Baldevs, Vasudevs, and other Shalaka Purushas, before liberation or heavenly rebirth

So, the word Manushya includes many kinds of human births, not only one type.

    Spiritual Understanding

In Jain Dharma, Manushya-gati is considered very precious because only as a human being can one properly understand dharma, practice samyak darshan, samyak jnan, and samyak charitra, and progress toward moksha.

Even though there are many types of human births, a spiritually aware human birth is rare and highly valuable.

    Takeaway

The 14 lakh Manushya refers to the many categories of human life described in Jain tradition. Examples include humans of Bharat, Airavat, and Mahavideh Kshetra, as well as spiritually great human beings like Tirthankars and Chakravartis while they are in human birth.
