    Chaitya Vandan vidhi

    2 hrs ago 3

    Answer

Chaitya Vandan Vidhi is the respectful devotional procedure performed before the image of Arihant Bhagwan, usually in a Jain temple or before a home derasar. It includes bowing, reciting sacred sutras, offering devotion, seeking forgiveness, and strengthening right faith.

    General Chaitya Vandan Vidhi

    A common traditional order is:

    • 1. Preparation
Wear clean clothes, maintain purity of body and mind, and enter the derasar with humility.
    • 2. Pranam / Bowing
Bow respectfully to Arihant Bhagwan and the sacred place.
    • 3. Navkar Mantra
Recite the Navkar Mantra with devotion.
    • 4. Iriyavahiya Sutra
Seek forgiveness for any harm caused unknowingly while walking or moving.
    • 5. Tassa Uttari Sutra
Prepare the mind for purification and spiritual practice.
    • 6. Annattha Sutra / Kayotsarg
Stand or sit in stillness, giving up bodily movements and focusing on the soul.
    • 7. Logassa Sutra
Praise the 24 Tirthankars and reflect on their qualities.
    • 8. Stuti / Stavans
Recite devotional praises of Arihant Bhagwan.
    • 9. Chaitya Stavan
Offer reverence to the Jina temple, Jina image, and the qualities of the Tirthankars.
    • 10. Vandana
Bow again with humility and devotion.
    • 11. Khamasana
Perform respectful bowing while asking forgiveness and expressing surrender to the path of Dharma.
    • 12. Final Prayer
Pray for right faith, right knowledge, right conduct, and liberation.

    Spiritual Understanding

Chaitya Vandan is not merely a ritual. Its inner purpose is:

    • To purify thoughts, words, and actions
    • To develop humility and devotion
    • To remember the virtues of Arihant Bhagwan
    • To reduce ego, attachment, and carelessness
    • To strengthen the path of Samyak Darshan, Samyak Jnan, and Samyak Charitra

    Important Note

The exact sequence and sutras may vary slightly among Jain traditions, especially between Śvetāmbara Murtipujak practices and other traditions. It is best to learn the exact pronunciation and full vidhi from a knowledgeable guru, sadhu-sadhvi, or trained teacher in your tradition.

    Takeaway

Chaitya Vandan is a sacred practice of devotion, purification, and self-discipline. When performed with awareness and humility, it helps the soul move closer to the qualities of Arihant Bhagwan.
