    चौद लाख निगोद अनंत काल स्थिति, explain in english

    2 hrs ago 1

    Answer

“Chaud lakh nigod anant kāl sthiti” means:

There are fourteen lakh types/categories of Nigod, and the souls in Nigod may remain there for an extremely long, beginningless-like period described as “anant kāl” in Jain tradition.

    Here:

    • Chaud lakh = fourteen lakh
    • Nigod = the lowest and most undeveloped form of embodied life
    • Anant kāl sthiti = existence or duration for an immeasurably long time

    Explanation

In Jain Dharma, Nigod refers to very minute, one-sensed living beings. They have only the sense of touch and live in a highly undeveloped state. Countless souls exist in Nigod.

The phrase teaches that many souls remain in this lowest life-form for a very long time because of the heavy bondage of karma and lack of spiritual development.

    Nigod beings are considered:

    • Extremely subtle living beings
    • One-sensed organisms
    • Grouped together in common bodies
    • Unable to perform meaningful spiritual effort in that state
    • Bound in a very low form of worldly existence

    Spiritual Understanding

This teaching helps us understand the rarity and value of human birth.

According to Jain Dharma, after wandering through countless forms of life, a soul receives human birth only with great difficulty. Human life is precious because only in such a birth can one properly practice:

    • Samyak Darshan — right faith
    • Samyak Jnan — right knowledge
    • Samyak Charitra — right conduct
    • Tapasya — austerity
    • Ahimsa — non-violence
    • Self-control and liberation-oriented practice

So, the idea of “Nigod for anant kāl” is not meant to create fear, but to awaken awareness: do not waste this rare human life.

    Takeaway

“Chaud lakh nigod anant kāl sthiti” reminds us that worldly wandering is vast and difficult, while human birth is rare and spiritually powerful. Therefore, Jain Dharma encourages us to use this life for right faith, right knowledge, right conduct, compassion, and liberation.
