Mahavir swami desna after kewal gyan

    2 hrs ago 2

    Answer

After attaining Keval Gyan, Bhagwan Mahavir Swami gave His first divine sermon, known as Deshna or Divya Dhvani.

According to Jain tradition, after Keval Gyan, Bhagwan Mahavir’s Deshna taught the path of liberation through:

    • Samyak Darshan – right faith
    • Samyak Gyan – right knowledge
    • Samyak Charitra – right conduct

These three are called the Ratnatraya, the Three Jewels of Jain Dharma.

    Explanation

Bhagwan Mahavir attained Keval Gyan after intense tapasya and complete destruction of the ghati karmas. After this, He became an Arihant and began giving Deshna for the spiritual upliftment of all living beings.

His Deshna explained essential Jain principles such as:

    • Ahimsa – non-violence toward all living beings
    • Anekantvad – understanding truth from many viewpoints
    • Aparigraha – non-attachment and non-possessiveness
    • Self-discipline through vows, restraint, and purity of conduct
    • Karma theory and the path to moksha

Through His Deshna, Bhagwan Mahavir established the fourfold Jain Sangh:

    • Sadhu
    • Sadhvi
    • Shravak
    • Shravika

    Spiritual Understanding

Bhagwan Mahavir’s Deshna was not merely speech; it was divine guidance arising from perfect knowledge and compassion. It showed that every soul has the potential to become free from karma and attain moksha through right faith, right knowledge, and right conduct.

    Takeaway

After Keval Gyan, Bhagwan Mahavir’s Deshna revealed the complete path of Jain Dharma: live with ahimsa, reduce attachment, purify the soul, and progress toward liberation.
