I have mastuburate But I can't do Pratikaman instead of it if I do Samaik??

    an hour ago 1

    Answer

Yes, you may do Samayik if you are not able to do full Pratikraman. But Samayik is not exactly a replacement for Pratikraman.

If you have committed a mistake such as masturbation and you feel regret, the Jain approach is:

    • Accept the mistake honestly.
    • Do pratikraman-bhavana — inner repentance.
    • Ask for forgiveness from the Arihant, Siddha, Guru, and your own soul.
    • Take a sincere resolve to avoid repeating it.
    • Do Samayik with a pure and calm mind.

    Explanation

In Jain Dharma, Pratikraman means turning back from wrong actions. It includes repentance, confession, forgiveness, and resolve for improvement.

Samayik means staying in equanimity for a fixed time. It helps calm the mind, reduce passions, and reconnect with the soul.

So, if you cannot do formal Pratikraman, doing Samayik sincerely is spiritually beneficial. During Samayik, you can mentally do repentance by thinking:

    • “I have made a mistake.”
    • “May I be forgiven.”
    • “I will try not to repeat this.”
    • “May my mind become pure and steady.”

    Spiritual Understanding

Jain Dharma teaches that mistakes should not lead to hopelessness. They should lead to awareness, repentance, and self-control.

Masturbation is connected with sensual desire and lack of control over the mind. For spiritual progress, Jain Dharma encourages brahmacharya according to one’s capacity.

Do not hate yourself. Instead, become more alert and disciplined.

    Takeaway

If full Pratikraman is not possible, do Samayik sincerely with repentance and a firm resolve. But whenever possible, learn and perform proper Pratikraman, because it has a special place in Jain practice.
