    Answer

Yes, doing Samayik with sincere repentance can help you calm the mind, reduce passions, and move toward purification. But in Jain Dharma, for reducing the bondage of pāp, the most important inner steps are:

    • Alochana — honest confession of the mistake
    • Pratikraman — repentance and turning back from the wrong
    • Pratyakhyan — a sincere vow to avoid repeating it

If you cannot go to Maharaj Saheb right now, at least do sincere repentance before Arihant Bhagwan, Siddha Bhagwan, and your own soul.

    Explanation

In Jain Dharma, sexual indulgence and loss of self-control increase attachment, passion, and karmic bondage. Masturbation is connected with kām-rāg and lack of restraint, so it is spiritually harmful.

But do not fall into hopelessness. Jain Dharma teaches that a soul can purify itself through awareness, repentance, restraint, and effort.

    You can do this:

    • Sit peacefully in Samayik.
    • Accept honestly: “I made a mistake due to weakness of mind and passions.”
    • Do Michchhāmi Dukkaḍaṃ with true feeling.
    • Take a small realistic vow, such as: “I will avoid this for one day,” then slowly increase.
    • Avoid triggers such as lustful content, loneliness, and uncontrolled phone use.
    • Keep your mind engaged in Navkar Mantra, swadhyay, seva, study, or physical discipline.

Samayik is very helpful because it brings the soul back toward equanimity. But if possible, Pratikraman is especially meant for reflecting on mistakes and purifying them.

    About Alochana to Maharaj Saheb

It is natural to feel shy. But Maharaj Saheb has renounced worldly life and guides many souls. Their role is not to shame you, but to guide you spiritually.

If you feel unable to say details, you may say respectfully:

“Maharaj Saheb, I have committed a mistake related to brahmacharya and lack of control. I feel repentance. Please guide me for alochana and pratyakhyan.”

You do not need to speak in a crude or uncomfortable way. You can use respectful words like brahmacharya bhang, kām-vikār, or indriya asanyam.

    Spiritual Understanding

The goal is not only to “reduce pāp” after the act, but to weaken the inner cause: rāg, kām, and asanyam. True purification happens when the heart feels:

    • “This was not right for my soul.”
    • “I do not want to remain controlled by passions.”
    • “I will try again with more awareness.”

Do not hate yourself. Hatred and guilt can again disturb the mind. Instead, develop jagruti, repentance, and discipline.

    Takeaway

Samayik will help if done with sincere repentance and a vow not to repeat the mistake. But when possible, do Pratikraman and take Alochana in respectful words from Maharaj Saheb. Jain Dharma values honest repentance and sincere effort more than fear or shame.
