I am Jain but I have affection towards Lord Shiva ,can I worship lord shiva along.

    Answer

Yes, as a Jain, you may respectfully have affection toward Lord Shiva and offer respectful worship, as long as you clearly understand the Jain spiritual path and do not confuse it with Jain refuge.

In Jain Dharma, the highest worship is directed toward:

    • Arihant Bhagwan
    • Siddha Bhagwan
    • Acharya
    • Upadhyay
    • Sadhus and Sadhvis

This is expressed through the Namokar Mantra and the Jain path of liberation.

    Explanation

Jain Dharma teaches that liberation comes through:

    • Right faith
    • Right knowledge
    • Right conduct
    • Non-violence
    • Self-discipline
    • Freedom from attachment and aversion

Jainism does not teach dependence on a creator god for liberation. The liberated souls, called Siddhas, are worshipped because they have completely conquered karma and attained moksha.

If you worship Lord Shiva with respect, devotion, or cultural affection, it should not replace your Jain understanding of liberation. From a Jain perspective, spiritual progress depends on purifying your own soul through Jain principles.

    Spiritual Understanding

Having respect for other deities is not wrong when it is done with humility and without harming Jain faith. But a Jain should remain clear that the ultimate ideal is the state of the Vitarag — one who is free from attachment and aversion.

So you may respectfully bow to Lord Shiva, but your spiritual refuge should remain in the Pancha Parmesthi and the path shown by the Tirthankars.

    Takeaway

You can respectfully worship Lord Shiva, but as a Jain, keep your main spiritual foundation in Jain Dharma: Arihant, Siddha, Guru, Dharma, ahimsa, self-purification, and the path to moksha.
