Is Jain and Hindu follow same path but with different approaches.

    42 minutes ago 2

    Answer

Jain Dharma and Hindu Dharma share some common cultural background, but they do not follow exactly the same spiritual path.

They have some similar ideas, such as karma, rebirth, non-violence, self-discipline, and liberation. However, their understanding of the soul, God, creation, liberation, rituals, and spiritual practice is different.

So it is better to say:

Jain Dharma and Hindu Dharma have some shared Indian spiritual concepts, but they are distinct paths with different teachings and approaches.

    Explanation

    Some similarities include:

    • Karma: Both accept that actions affect future experiences.
    • Rebirth: Both teach that the soul goes through cycles of birth and death.
    • Moksha: Both value liberation from worldly bondage.
    • Spiritual discipline: Both emphasize self-control, purity, and ethical living.

But Jain Dharma has distinct teachings:

    • No creator God: Jain Dharma does not teach that the universe was created by a supreme creator God.
    • Independent soul: Every soul is eternal and has the potential to become liberated through its own purification.
    • Ahimsa as the highest principle: Non-violence is central in thought, speech, and action.
    • Tirthankars: Jains follow the teachings of the Tirthankars, especially Bhagwan Mahavir in the present era.
    • Liberation through self-effort: Moksha is attained by removing karma from the soul through right faith, right knowledge, and right conduct.

    Spiritual Understanding

From the Jain perspective, the path is not based on devotion to a creator God for salvation. It is based on purifying the soul by conquering attachment, aversion, passions, and karmic bondage.

The Jain path is summarized by the Ratnatraya:

    • Samyak Darshan – Right Faith
    • Samyak Jnan – Right Knowledge
    • Samyak Charitra – Right Conduct

    Takeaway

Jain and Hindu traditions may appear similar in some cultural practices, but Jain Dharma is an independent spiritual path with its own philosophy, scriptures, vows, Tirthankars, and method of liberation.
