how do jainism see 2.4 billion chistian and 2.2 billion muslims globally

    2 hrs ago 4

    Answer

Jainism sees Christians, Muslims, and all other people first as living souls — jīvas — who are capable of spiritual progress.

Jain Dharma does not judge a soul by the size of its religious community, nationality, label, or belief system. It looks at:

    • How much non-violence one practices
    • How much truthfulness one follows
    • How much attachment, anger, ego, deceit, and greed one reduces
    • How much compassion and self-discipline one cultivates

So Jainism would view 2.4 billion Christians and 2.2 billion Muslims as countless individual souls, each on their own spiritual journey.

    Explanation

In Jain philosophy, every living being has a soul. All souls are fundamentally equal in their pure nature, but they differ because of their karma, passions, understanding, and conduct.

    Jainism teaches:

    • Ahiṃsā — non-violence toward all beings
    • Anekāntavāda — reality can be understood from many viewpoints
    • Aparigraha — non-possessiveness and reduction of attachment
    • Samyak Darshan, Samyak Jñān, Samyak Chāritra — right faith, right knowledge, and right conduct as the path to liberation

Because of anekāntavāda, Jainism encourages humility in how we look at others’ beliefs. It does not encourage hatred or contempt toward people of other religions.

At the same time, Jainism has its own clear spiritual view: liberation comes through purification of the soul by removing karma, overcoming passions, and following the path taught by the Tirthankars.

    Spiritual Understanding

From a Jain point of view, the important question is not “How many people belong to one religion?” but:

    • Are beings reducing violence?
    • Are they living with compassion?
    • Are they becoming free from anger, pride, deceit, and greed?
    • Are they moving toward inner purity?

A Jain should therefore look at Christians, Muslims, Hindus, Buddhists, atheists, and all others with maitri bhāvanā — friendliness — and karuṇā — compassion.

Jainism does not teach that someone should be hated because they follow another religion. Hatred itself binds karma.

    Takeaway

Jainism sees all Christians and Muslims as souls, not enemies or outsiders. Their numbers do not matter spiritually. What matters is non-violence, compassion, self-control, truthfulness, and progress toward purification of the soul.
