Michaaami Dukadam date
Michhāmi Dukkaḍaṃ is a traditional Jain phrase used during the festival of Paryushan (for Śvetāmbara Jains) and Das Lakshan Parva (for Digambara Jains). It means "I seek forgiveness for any hurt caused by my thoughts, words, or actions." There is no single fixed date for Michhāmi Dukkaḍaṃ, as it is observed at the conclusion of these festivals.
- For Śvetāmbara Jains: Michhāmi Dukkaḍaṃ is said on Samvatsari, the last day of Paryushan.
- For Digambara Jains: Michhāmi Dukkaḍaṃ is said on Kshamavani, the Day of Forgiveness at the end of Das Lakshan Parva.
The exact dates change every year according to the Jain lunar calendar. In 2024:
- Samvatsari (Śvetāmbara): September 9, 2024
- Kshamavani (Digambara): September 17, 2024
On these days, Jains greet each other with "Michhāmi Dukkaḍaṃ" to seek and offer forgiveness.
