In Jainism, Vaimanik Dev are celestial beings or gods who reside in the heavenly abodes (Vaimanik heavens). According to Jain scriptures, these celestial beings do not eat physical food like humans or animals. Instead, their sustenance is of a subtle, non-material nature.

Specifically, Jain texts such as the Tattvartha Sutra (5.20) state that Vaimanik Devas experience enjoyment and nourishment through āhāra-vṛtti—a form of subtle enjoyment that does not involve any violence or consumption of gross material food. Their "food" is derived from the natural bliss, environment, and their own karmic merits. They are described as being nourished by celestial happiness, divine fragrances, and the pleasures of their heavenly abodes, rather than by eating or drinking in the physical sense.

Thus, Vaimanik Dev do not eat in the ordinary sense but are sustained by subtle, karmically-derived enjoyments.
