Answer
In Jain Dharma, every soul has the inherent capacity to attain moksha, because every soul’s true nature is pure, conscious, blissful, and capable of becoming free from karma.
However, not every soul is presently in a condition where moksha is immediately possible. Moksha depends on the soul developing:
- Samyak Darshan — right faith
- Samyak Jnan — right knowledge
- Samyak Charitra — right conduct
These three together are called the Ratnatraya — the Three Jewels of Jain Dharma.
Explanation
If someone says, “Some souls cannot get moksha,” it needs careful understanding.
According to Jain principles:
- No soul is permanently unfit for moksha by nature.
- Every soul has the same essential purity.
- Bondage happens because of karma.
- When karma is completely destroyed, the soul attains moksha.
But due to heavy karma, wrong belief, attachment, violence, passions, and ignorance, some souls may remain in samsar for an extremely long time. That does not mean moksha is impossible forever. It means they have not yet created the right spiritual conditions.
Spiritual Understanding
Jain Dharma does not teach that moksha is limited to only a special group by birth, label, or identity. Being called “Jain” alone is not enough, and not being Jain by name does not mean the soul has no spiritual potential.
What matters is purification of the soul through:
- Ahimsa
- Truthfulness
- Non-stealing
- Brahmacharya
- Aparigraha
- Right faith, knowledge, and conduct
Moksha is not based on social identity. It is based on the complete removal of karma.
Takeaway
No soul should be considered hopeless. In Jain Dharma, every soul is capable of becoming Siddha, but moksha becomes possible only when the soul follows the true path of right faith, right knowledge, and right conduct.
