In Jainism, "punya" (पुण्य) refers to the accumulation of auspicious or meritorious karma resulting from good deeds, right conduct, charity, compassion, and adherence to ethical principles such as non-violence (ahimsa), truthfulness (satya), and non-possessiveness (aparigraha). "Bhagya" (भाग्य) generally means fortune or destiny.

Jain philosophy teaches that punya leads to pleasant experiences and favorable circumstances in worldly life, such as wealth, health, and happiness. However, Jainism also emphasizes that both punya (merit) and paap (demerit) are forms of karma that bind the soul to the cycle of birth and death (samsara). The ultimate goal is to transcend both and attain liberation (moksha) by destroying all karmic bonds through right faith, right knowledge, and right conduct.

So, while punya may bring temporary happiness, Jainism teaches that one should aim beyond worldly fortunes and work towards liberation.
