During praiyushan is it compulsory to go derasar
In Jainism, Paryushan (or Paryushana) is one of the most important festivals, focused on spiritual upliftment, self-discipline, reflection, and penance. Visiting the derasar (Jain temple) during Paryushan is highly encouraged because it allows devotees to participate in collective prayers, listen to discourses, perform rituals, and seek forgiveness.
However, it is not compulsory to go to the derasar during Paryushan, especially if one is unable due to health, age, distance, or other genuine reasons. The true essence of Paryushan lies in self-purification, repentance (pratikraman), forgiveness (kshamapana), and observing vows (vrat)—all of which can also be practiced at home with sincerity and devotion.
Jain scriptures and acharyas emphasize internal spiritual practice over external rituals. Therefore, while going to the derasar is beneficial, it is not mandatory. What is most important is the intent, spiritual effort, and observance of Paryushan principles in one's daily life.
