Why goal is to go in moksha?
Answer
In Jain Dharma, the goal is to attain Moksha because Moksha is the state where the soul becomes completely free from:
- birth and death,
- karma bondage,
- suffering,
- attachment and hatred,
- ignorance and delusion.
Moksha is the soul’s pure, eternal, and perfect state.
Explanation
According to Jain Dharma, every soul has infinite qualities such as:
- Infinite knowledge
- Infinite perception
- Infinite bliss
- Infinite energy
But these qualities are covered by karmas. Because of karma, the soul keeps wandering in the cycle of birth and death, called samsar.
In samsar, even happiness is temporary. A soul may be born as a human, animal, heavenly being, or hellish being, but none of these states are permanent. As long as karma remains, the soul experiences fear, pain, desire, loss, and rebirth.
Moksha means all karmas are completely destroyed. Then the soul reaches the top of the universe, called Siddhashila, and remains forever in pure bliss and perfect knowledge.
Spiritual Understanding
The goal is not to “go somewhere” for pleasure. The goal is to become what the soul truly is: pure, peaceful, detached, and all-knowing.
Jain Dharma teaches that worldly pleasures cannot give permanent happiness because they depend on body, senses, people, and situations. Moksha is different because it is the soul’s own natural happiness, independent and eternal.
Takeaway
The goal of Moksha is freedom.
Freedom from karma, freedom from suffering, freedom from rebirth, and realization of the soul’s pure nature. In Jain Dharma, this is the highest and most meaningful purpose of life.
