In Jainism, Udambhi Himsa refers to violence caused by water or harm done to water-bodied beings (aprakaya jivas). According to Jain philosophy, living beings exist not only in plants and animals but also in the elements of earth, water, fire, air, and vegetation. Water-bodied beings (Udaka Jiva) are considered as having a single sense (ekendriya), and causing injury to them is classified as Udambhi Himsa.

Examples of Udambhi Himsa include:

• Polluting water sources
• Killing or harming aquatic microorganisms and beings
• Wasting water unnecessarily

Jain ethics teach followers to minimize harm to all forms of life, including water-bodied beings. Therefore, Jains take care to filter water before use and avoid unnecessary wastage or pollution of water, adhering to the principle of ahimsa (non-violence) even at the micro level.
