What was previous karma for her difference as to seperation from her husband
Answer
In Jain Dharma, we should not claim to know the exact “previous karma” behind any person’s separation from her husband.
Only a Kevalī Bhagavān has perfect knowledge of the exact karmic causes. For us, it is safer and more spiritually correct to say:
- Separation, sorrow, and relationship difficulties arise due to the rise of past karmas.
- The exact past-life action cannot be identified with certainty.
- Present conduct is more important than trying to guess the past cause.
Explanation
According to Jain philosophy, every experience is connected with karma. Painful separation may be connected with karmas related to:
- attachment and aversion,
- hurt caused to others,
- relationship-related suffering created in the past,
- mohaniya karma, which causes emotional delusion and attachment.
But these are general Jain principles, not a definite judgment about any individual person.
Jain Dharma teaches us not to blame the person by saying, “This happened because of this exact past sin.” Such certainty is not possible for ordinary people.
Spiritual Understanding
The right Jain approach is:
- accept the situation with calmness,
- avoid hatred, revenge, and blame,
- practice forgiveness,
- reduce attachment,
- perform pratikraman for one’s own mistakes,
- develop inner strength through samayik, prayer, and right understanding.
Separation can become a cause of spiritual growth if one uses it to reduce rāga-dveṣa — attachment and hatred.
Takeaway
Jain Dharma does not encourage guessing someone’s exact past karma. It teaches that suffering comes from karmic bondage, but the wise response is forgiveness, self-reflection, detachment, and spiritual progress.
