I am doing varsitap soo according to jain calender of diwali which days should I do upvaas and which day parna like which day is upvaas compulsory

    Answer

In Varsitap (Varshitap), the usual rule is:

    • One day Upvaas
    • Next day Parna / Besna
    • Then again Upvaas, then Parna

So it continues as an alternate-day tap.

Traditionally, Varsitap begins from around Kartik Vad 8 after Diwali and continues until Akshaya Tritiya, when the final Parna is done.

    Important

The exact dates depend on the Jain Panchang, your Sangh tradition, and local sunrise/tithi calculation. Therefore, for the exact Diwali-based calendar dates, you should confirm with your local Jain Sangh, Upashray, or Guru Bhagwant.

    Which days are compulsory Upvaas?

In Varsitap, the “compulsory” part is the alternate-day fasting sequence once you have taken the niyam. That means:

    • If today is your fixed Upvaas day, you do Upvaas.
    • The next day is Parna.
    • You should not randomly switch the sequence without guidance.

    Special care

If there is confusion due to tithi, adhik tithi, kshay tithi, illness, travel, or monthly changes, follow the guidance of:

    • Your Guru Bhagwant / Maharaj Saheb / Sadhviji
    • Your local Jain Panchang
    • Your Sangh’s Varsitap schedule

    Takeaway

Varsitap is generally Upvaas one day and Parna the next day, starting from Kartik Vad 8 and ending with Parna on Akshaya Tritiya. For the exact dates according to this year’s Jain calendar, please follow your local Jain Panchang or Guru Bhagwant, because Jain dates depend on local tithi calculations.
