    Which mantra chanting in paryushan

    12 months ago 188

During Paryushan, chanting of several important Jain mantras and prayers is a central practice. The most prominent and universally recited mantra is the Navkar Mantra (also called Namokar Mantra or Namaskar Mantra). It is considered the most fundamental and sacred mantra in Jainism. The mantra is:

    Navkar Mantra: ``` ```

Transliteration: ``` Namo Arihantāṇam Namo Siddhāṇam Namo Ayariyāṇam Namo Uvajjhāyāṇam Namo Loe Savva Sāhūṇam Eso Panch Namokkāro, Savva Pāvappaṇāsaṇo Maṅgalāṇaṁ ca Savvesiṁ, Padhamam Havai Maṅgalaṁ ```

Meaning: I bow to the Arihants (victorious souls), I bow to the Siddhas (liberated souls), I bow to the Acharyas (preceptors or heads of Jain order), I bow to the Upadhyayas (teachers), I bow to all Sadhus (spiritual practitioners) in the world. This five-fold salutation destroys all sins and obstacles; Amongst all auspicious things, this is the foremost.

    Other Important Prayers during Paryushan:

    • Kshamapana (Forgiveness) prayers, especially the recitation of "Michchhami Dukkadam" to seek forgiveness.
    • Pratikraman Sutras: Various sutras such as the Iryavahiya Sutra, Kayotsarga, and Logassa Sutra are chanted during the daily Pratikraman ritual.
    • Uvasaggaharam Stotra: A hymn dedicated to Parshvanath for removing obstacles.
    • Kalyan Mandir Stotra and Bhaktamara Stotra may also be recited.

Chanting these mantras and prayers with devotion, reflection, and a spirit of forgiveness is an essential part of the Paryushan festival.
