In Jainism, Shrenik (also known as King Shrenik or Bimbisara) was a prominent historical and religious figure. He was the king of Magadha during the time of Lord Mahavira, the 24th Tirthankara. King Shrenik was a devoted follower of Mahavira and is frequently mentioned in Jain scriptures as a great patron of Jainism.

According to Jain texts, Shrenik often visited Lord Mahavira to seek spiritual guidance and asked many questions about karma, liberation (moksha), and right conduct. Because of his deep respect and devotion, he is considered one of the prominent royal disciples of Mahavira.

However, it is also noted in Jain scriptures that, despite his devotion, King Shrenik could not attain liberation in that life due to some karmic bondage. It is believed that he will be reborn as the first Tirthankara of the next time cycle (Chakravarti Simandhar Swami).

Shrenik's story highlights the importance of spiritual inquiry, devotion, and the complex nature of karma in Jain philosophy.
