    Navkar akshar tap ki kriya

    12 months ago 169

Navkar Akshar Tap is a spiritual practice in Jainism that involves the meditative repetition and contemplation of the Navkar Mantra (Namokar Mantra), one of the most sacred mantras in Jainism. This practice is considered a type of tap (austerity or penance), which helps in purifying the soul and accumulating spiritual merit (punya).

Kriya (Procedure) of Navkar Akshar Tap

The most common form of Navkar Akshar Tap involves the following steps:

    1. Preparation:

    - Choose a quiet and clean place for the practice. - Sit in a comfortable meditative posture (preferably Padmasana or Sukhasana). - Maintain a calm and pure state of mind.

    1. Sankalp (Resolve):

    - Mentally resolve to perform the Navkar Akshar Tap with devotion and concentration. - Set a specific number of repetitions or time for the practice.

    1. Recitation:

    - Begin reciting the Navkar Mantra: _"Namo Arihantanam, Namo Siddhanam, Namo Ayariyanam, Namo Uvajjhayanam, Namo Loe Savva Sahunam."_

    1. Counting Akshar (Syllables):

    - The unique aspect of this tap is to focus on each syllable (akshar) of the mantra. - The mantra contains 68 akshars (syllables). - With each repetition, meditate on each syllable, or you may recite and count each syllable as a form of penance.

    1. Types of Navkar Akshar Tap:

    - 1 Navkar = 68 Akshar: Recite the entire Navkar Mantra once, focusing on all 68 syllables. - Multiple Rounds: Perform 108, 500, 1008, or any set number of repetitions as per your resolve. - Sankalp Tap: Some aspirants commit to doing a particular number of akshar (for example, 68,000 syllables), which means repeating the mantra accordingly.

    1. Deep Reflection:

    - While reciting, reflect on the qualities of each of the five supreme beings (Panch Parmesthi) that the mantra salutes. - Cultivate humility, devotion, and a sense of surrender.

    1. Completion:

    - End the practice with a prayer for forgiveness (Kshamapana) and dedicate the merit for the well-being of all living beings.

    Benefits of Navkar Akshar Tap

    • Purifies one’s mind and soul.
    • Helps in the destruction of karmas.
    • Increases concentration and devotion.
    • Brings peace and spiritual upliftment.

    Notes

    • The practice can be done individually or in groups.
    • It can be performed during special Jain festivals like Paryushan, Ayambil Oli, or as a personal spiritual discipline.
    • Some Jain texts and traditions might have additional methods or variations for performing this tap.

Always perform such austerities with proper guidance and respect for the spiritual tradition.
