Common essentials for all shravaks/shravikas
- Clean, simple white clothing (paushadh‑vastra); extra set if staying at upashray/mandir.
- Asan: clean wool/cotton mat for sitting in samayik; small white sheet/chadar.
- Boiled/filtered water in a covered steel bottle or lota, and a clean glass.
- Pratikraman text (as per time: devasi/rayansi or pakkhi), Samayik sutras, Navkar mantra booklet; optional small mala (navkarvali) for japa.
- Svadhyay material: small scripture/book and a pen‑notebook for notes.
- Basic personal cloth items: handkerchief, small towel; cotton cloth bag (no leather).
- Prescribed medicines (only what you must take).
- Simple satvik Jain food if you are not fasting (plan for ekasan/biyasana as per your pachchakkhan); avoid after‑sunset eating and avoid green‑leafy/root vegetables as per your maryada.
- Personal hygiene prepared before Paushadh day (e.g., nail cutting done the previous day).

- Take Paushadh pachchakkhan from Guru/at upashray or with sankalp at home.
- Keep maun/aletā‑chit where possible; do samayik, svadhyay, pratikraman, prarthana, japa of Navkar Mantra.
- Drink only boiled/filtered water within permitted times; maintain vigilant ahimsa in movement and speech.
- Close Paushadh respectfully as per tradition, seeking kshamapna for any faults.
