If you perform pratikraman..when can you have water next day
In Jain Dharma, it depends on the pachchakhyān (vow) you took at the end of pratikraman:
- Chauvihār pachchakhyān: No food or water after sunset. You may drink water next day after sunrise. If you also took Navkārshī, then take the first sip 48 minutes after sunrise, after reciting the Navkār Mantra.
- Tivihār pachchakhyān: No food after sunset, but water is allowed at night if needed. Next day you may drink as usual.
- If you were in Upavās (full fast) or another specific fast, then no water until you formally break the fast at the set time next day.
Both Śvetāmbara and Digambara follow this general principle; timings can vary slightly by gaccha/sangh. Follow the maryādā taught by your own guru or temple.
