Before which time we need to eat in paryushan?
Short answer: In Paryushan, all eating should be finished before sunset. Night‑eating is given up.
Details by tradition:
- Shwetambar: Usually observe ekāsan (one meal) or be-āsan (two meals) only in daylight. Food and even beverages are completed before sunset. After sunset, many keep chauvihār (no food or water till next sunrise) or tivihār (no food; only plain boiled water if allowed by one’s vow).
- Digambar (during Paryushan/Daśa‑Lakṣaṇa): Bhojan and water are kept within sunrise to sunset. After sunset, generally no food; water follows the personal vow (many keep chauvihār).
If you have taken a stricter vow, follow that; otherwise, the baseline rule is: eat in daylight and stop before sunset.
