What karm die to hinsa die to light

    one year ago 267

In Jainism, hinsa (violence or causing harm to living beings) is considered one of the primary sources of the accumulation of negative karma (paap karma). When a person commits violence—whether through thoughts, words, or actions—it attracts asrava (influx) of harmful karma particles to the soul. This karmic bondage results in suffering, pain, and obstacles on the path to liberation (moksha).

The specific types of karma attracted due to hinsa generally include:

    • Antarāya karma: Obstructing karma that creates hindrances to one's abilities and spiritual progress.
    • Vedaniya karma: Karma that results in experiencing pleasure or pain, often pain in the case of hinsa.
    • Ayushya karma: Karma that determines the lifespan, which may be adversely affected by violent actions.
    • Naraka-gati bandha: Severe hinsa may even lead to bondage in hellish realms in the next birth.

Ahimsa (non-violence) is the fundamental vow in Jainism, and practicing it is the primary way to stop the influx of such negative karma and to purify the soul. Even the intention to harm is considered as hinsa and leads to karmic bondage.

Summary: Violence (hinsa) leads to the influx and bondage of negative karma (paap karma), resulting in suffering and spiritual downfall, while non-violence (ahimsa) is the means to stop and shed such karma.
