mahaveer prabhu's mother
Mahaveer Prabhu’s mother is Queen Trishalā (also called Trishalā Devi, Jaya Devi), the wife of King Siddhartha of Kundagrām (near Vaiśālī).
According to Jain scriptures, there was a divine garbha-parivartana (embryo transfer): the embryo first entered the womb of Devānandā (a Brahmin lady) and was then placed by the devas into Queen Trishalā’s womb. Therefore, Devānandā is remembered as the biological mother, and Queen Trishalā as the mother who gave birth and raised Bhagwān Mahāvīr. Both are honored with great respect in Jain tradition.
Tradition notes:
- Shwetāmbars recount that Mata Trishalā saw 14 auspicious dreams at conception.
- Digambars recount 16 auspicious dreams.
- Lineage details (like her relation to King Chetaka of Vaiśālī) are described slightly differently by the two traditions, but all agree on Queen Trishalā as Mahavira’s mother.
