Can we wear Black clothes fur
Short answer:
- Black color: Not inherently wrong, but avoid it for temple, pūjā, pratikraman, and vrats. Wear simple, clean, preferably white cotton there.
- Fur: Do not wear. It involves direct himsā (violence to animals) and goes against Jain vows.
A little detail:
- For daily life, modest, clean clothing is fine in any sober color. Tradition prefers light/white because it reflects inner purity and non‑attachment. Many Jain families therefore avoid black and bright red during worship and on saṃskārs.
- For all religious activities (darśan, pūjā, sāmāyik, pratikraman, Paryushan/Daś‑Lakṣaṇ), choose plain cotton/plant‑based fabric, light colors, no leather, silk, wool, or fur.
- Both Śvetāmbara and Digambara traditions strongly discourage any apparel made from animal bodies (fur, leather) due to ahiṃsā. Śvetāmbara sādhus wear simple white; Digambara munis renounce clothing—both uphold strict non‑violence and non‑possession.
So: Black cotton in daily routine is acceptable, but not for rituals. Fur is not acceptable at all.
