Who is simandhar swami ?
Simandhar Swami is a living Tirthankar (Arihant) in Jain cosmology. He resides in Mahavideh Kshetra, a pure region of the universe where Tirthankars are always present and continuously teach the path of liberation. Devotion to Simandhar Swami strengthens right faith, right knowledge, and right conduct, and many Jains aspire to purify themselves so they may be reborn in Mahavideh Kshetra, hear his discourses, and attain moksha.
Traditions
- Shwetambar: Simandhar Swami is explicitly revered as a currently living Tirthankar. Temples, stavans, and daily prayers often include his remembrance and worship with the bhav to progress toward liberation.
- Digambar: The existence of living Tirthankars in Mahavideh Kshetra is accepted; emphasis is generally on worship of Arihants and Siddhas. Personal devotion to Simandhar Swami is less prominently practiced, though doctrinally consistent with Jain cosmology.
Spiritual essence
- Remembering a living Tirthankar nurtures samyak darshan and inspires ahimsa, aparigraha, and tapas in daily life.
- While beings in Bharat Kshetra cannot meet him directly, sincere worship and ethical living create the causes to encounter a living Tirthankar in Mahavideh Kshetra.
