What happens after you die?
In Jainism, after death, the soul (jiva) leaves the body and is reborn in a new form based on its accumulated karma. This process is called samsara, the cycle of birth and death. The nature of the next birth—whether as a human, animal, heavenly being (deva), or hellish being (naraki)—is determined by the soul's past actions (karma).
Liberation (moksha) is the ultimate goal in Jainism. When a soul destroys all its karmas through right faith (samyak darshan), right knowledge (samyak jnana), and right conduct (samyak charitra), it is freed from the cycle of birth and death and attains a state of eternal bliss and omniscience at the top of the universe (Siddhashila). Until then, the soul continues to transmigrate according to its karma.
