Ahimsa (अहिंसा)

Both Śvetāmbara and Digambara traditions uphold the maxim “Ahimsa Paramo Dharmaḥ,” meaning “Non‑violence is the highest religion.” From this flow all vows and practices: truthfulness, non‑stealing, celibacy/chastity, and non‑possessiveness.
