I WANT TO KNOW STEP BY STEP DANK POOJA VIDHI

    one year ago 431

Certainly! In Jainism, “Danka Pooja” (also spelled “Dank Pooja” or “Danka Vidhi”) is a ritual performed especially during special occasions in Jain temples, such as the Panch Kalyanak Pratishtha Mahotsav or during the installation of new idols (Pratishtha). It is also performed in individual homes during auspicious occasions.

Here is a step-by-step guide to the traditional Dank Pooja Vidhi as per Jain rituals:

    Materials Required:

    • Dank (a brass or silver bowl with small holes, used to sprinkle water)
    • Clean water (preferably Gangajal or pure water)
    • Pooja thali (plate)
    • Fresh flowers
    • Akshat (unbroken rice)
    • Sandalwood paste (Chandan)
    • Incense sticks (Agarbatti)
    • Lamp (Diya)
    • Jain flag (optional)
    • Clean cloth or asana for sitting

    ---

    Step-by-Step Dank Pooja Vidhi:

    1. Preparation

    - Clean the place of worship. - Take a bath and wear clean clothes, ideally white. - Arrange all pooja items on a clean pooja thali. - Sit facing east or north.

    1. Pranam and Sankalp

    - Bow to the Tirthankaras and seek blessings. - Take a Sankalp (resolve) to perform the Dank Pooja with devotion.

    1. Lighting the Lamp and Incense

    - Light the diya (lamp) and incense sticks as a symbol of enlightenment and purity.

    1. Invocation (Aachaman and Prarthana)

    - Sprinkle a few drops of water on yourself as a symbol of internal purification. - Recite the Navkar Mantra or any Jain prayer for auspiciousness.

    1. Offering Akshat and Flowers

    - Offer Akshat (unbroken rice) and fresh flowers at the feet of the idol or photo of the Tirthankara.

    1. Dank Pooja

    - Fill the Dank with clean water. - Hold the Dank in your right hand. - With devotion, sprinkle the water from the Dank around the idol or the sacred area while reciting Jain mantras, usually “Navkar Mantra” or “Om Hreem Shree Adinathaya Namah” or related stutis. - It is customary to perform three rounds around the idol or the main pooja area. - The sprinkling symbolizes purification and sanctification of the environment and the devotee’s mind.

    1. Chandan and Tilak

    - Apply sandalwood paste (Chandan) to the idol and then to your forehead.

    1. Offering of Naivedya (if applicable)

    - Offer fruits or sweets as Naivedya to the Lord (optional and only if it is in accordance with Jain principles).

    1. Aarti

    - Perform Aarti with the lamp, moving it in circular motion in front of the idol, while singing Jain aarti or stavan.

    1. Closing Prayers

    - Conclude with Kshamapana (asking for forgiveness for any mistakes during the pooja). - Recite the Navkar Mantra again.

    1. Pradakshina and Namaskar

    - Circumambulate (pradakshina) the idol if space permits. - Bow down and offer Namaskar.

    ---

    Important Notes:

    • Dank Pooja should always be performed with utmost purity and devotion.
    • Strictly use vegetarian and saatvik items.
    • Maintain silence and a peaceful mind during the pooja.

If you want specific Jain mantras or stutis to be recited during Dank Pooja, please let me know!
